As a child I was attentive to the rivers, lakes, and creeks that surrounded me. I was taught to read water’s seasonal cycles and evaluate them for various purposes such as learning where the fish might bite.Essentially water made me conscious of my surroundings, of what flourished and what died. This always stayed with me.

Today as an independent artist based in Omaha, my works focus on ecological issues ranging from; the dramatic breakdown of the ecosystem in the Great Lakes to the modest, almost overlooked, water quality problems of Papillion Creek in Eastern Nebraska.

Using an exacto knife to cut paper, Mylar, tape and plastic, I abstract, enlarge and repeat patterns that reference a slew of issues such as illustrating bio-retention measures for urban, storm water runoff, and an alien, water flea's tail whose shape mimics characteristics of environmental devastation. My installations are large enough to represent what appears on top and what lurks beneath a water surface.

This I do to engage the public in a broader understanding of water’s essence and properties and to build an awareness of its acute vulnerability. Its well-being lies in our hands.
